Over the next month, the Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust will be working with the City and County of Swansea, Heritage Lottery Fund and Gower AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) to create and run an archaeological based project across Gower entitled ‘Finding our History’.
The project’s aims are to encourage a wider interest in the archaeology and history of Gower by using Gower communities themselves.
To do this, the first objective is to meet with the local communities of Gower to explain more about the project and why we need your help. There, we would like to find out what types of projects you might like to generate. We then aim to create local study groups who will run independently to establish new projects and help record the important archaeological and historical sites of Gower.
Our first meeting will be held at Reynoldston on the 3rd November from 12:30pm, and our second meeting will be held at Penclawdd Community Hall on the 6th November from 6:00pm.
After a quick introduction from us, it’s all down to you folks.
We need your ideas, stories and project suggestions as it’s your local history, your ideas and your project, so come armed with all your best suggestions.
See you there!
