Neath Abbey Open Day- Bring us your finds!

Always wondered what that ancient looking sherd of pottery was on your sideboard?

Pondered what it was that you found whilst walking the other day- is it an archaeological artefact?

Then we may be able to help!

If you have finds or artefacts that you have come across whilst on a walk, inherited or found whilst digging your garden and would like to know more, we would welcome the chance to look at them, record and potentially identify them at our finds stall at the Festival of Archaeology – Princes Retinue- Neath Abbey Open Day

There will be members of staff from the Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust, along with a representative of the Portable Antiquities Scheme to help identify and record items that you have.

On Saturday 09th July, between 10.00am – 4.00pm our stall will be located in the Neath Abbey Open Day Event, alongside a number of local displays and activities.

Finds roadshow

Thank you to all those who brought some of your fantastic finds down to the event!

We had a World War One scope measuring tool,  a gramophone piece,  a possible stone tool and flint.

All finds were recorded,  photographed and returned apart from the possible stone tool and flint which were kindly donated for further analysis.

Our next finds roadshow is going to be held at the Murton May Day,  where we will be holding another stall so come on down and bring your finds!
